Bob Rathke suffered a severe stroke early morning on Nov 22. Bob is a major photo contributor to Northside history and the ACHG. He is also part of a legacy, his mother and uncle took Northside photos prior to him. Bob’s priceless & precious Northside photos have been featured in many publications and websites locally and nationally.   An update via his daughter-in-law Carrie Rathke on December 27, 2017 states: “He is progressing well. He is receiving many different kinds of therapies. They are looking to discharge him to his next rehab facility in about two weeks. Our family is so grateful for everyone’s prayers and well wishes. This was a very different Christmas but knowing that the family has so much support helps. Again, if anyone wishes to send notes to please message me (on Facebook) for an address.”  In the near future we will create on online gallery featuring all of Bob’s photos in our collection.

Bob and many of his photos are featured in this 2014 YouTube video created by the Allegheny City Historic Gallery.  Just follow this link below.

  1. I went to college and high school in a special afternoon program at a north side high school with him. We also worked together at St JOseph hospital. He is a great guy and wish him well although I have not seen him in many years.
